Latest News on "Cars & Guitars, Under the Stars"
Just a reminder: The following Hartwell streets will be closed to public parking, starting at 11am through 9pm on Saturday, May 23rd for Cars & Guitars, Under the Stars:
· N. Forest Ave. - between Howell & Johnson St . (By Tena’s Jewelry)
· Carolina St. – between Howell & Johnson St . (By CVS)
· Franklin St. – between Carter St. & Jackson St . (By Post Office)
· The MLK Parking Lot will be used for vendors, next to the Post Office on May 23rd.
Parking will be available at the City Hall parking lot, the County parking lot (this is across from the Big M Ace Hardware) and the Bank of America lot will be available after 12pm. The First Baptist Church parking lot is also available all day.
Cars & Guitars, Under the Stars!(Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend) http://carsguitarsunderthestars.blogspot.com/ This event is held around the Courthouse Square in downtown Hartwell , GA to "Welcome back Summer". This family-friendly event is a great way to spend a Saturday admiring elegant classic cars, live music, children's activities, great food and kick-start the summer season!

A Special Car Scavenger Hunt in which you search for classic car photos in the downtown district on May 23rd. Visit downtown businesses on Saturday, May 23rd and find the photos of at least 12 of the of 16 specific car photos that will be listed on program*. These photos will be in clear frames and in store window displays. When you locate at least 12 photos, turn your entry form into the Cars & Guitars Registration Table before 4:00PM on May 23rd. The winner of the drawing will be announced between 5-6pm on May 23rd. Only one entry will be accepted, per person. If all your answers are correct, you will be given a raffle ticket and you will be entered into a drawing for the following prizes:
· First place is $150 in Our Town Gift Certificates
· Second place is $100 in Gift Certificates.
*The program will be available on Saturday, May 23rd at the Cars & Guitars Registration Table on the Courthouse Square in Hartwell.
Live music from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s for the Classic Car Show from 2-5pm, followed by the Battle of the Bands from 5-9pm. The Battle of the Bands will take place beside the Green Bean Coffee Café at N. Forest Ave. & Franklin St. and will take place from 5-9PM. Nine bands will perform, including the Ron Jonsons, Broken Romance, House Blend and Vinyl, said Joe Jankowski, Jombuss owner. Each band will have a 25-minute set. Three judges within the music industry will determine the winners. Musical styles will include alternative rock, rockabilly and fusion. This event is sponsored by Jombuss Entertainment. Interested bands need to contact Jombuss Entertainment at(706) 436-0000. The stage is located on N. Forest Ave. , by the Green Bean Coffee Café. Bring your lawn chair!!!

An unlimited pass for the Petting Zoo & Pony Rides is $10 per child and includes 2 tickets for pet food, or individual tickets will be available.
Individual Pony Rides are $4 each (4 tickets)
Admission to Petting Zoo is $1 (1 ticket) or Pet Food is $1 per bowl (1 ticket).

Contemporary Martial Arts Kick-A-Thon Fundraiser at 3:30p.m.
The Cars & Guitars Coloring Table (All artwork was created by the Hart County High School Art Students) The Children’s Activity Area is a fundraiser for the Hart County Imagination Library, providing free books to Hart County children from birth to age 5!

View an Antique Grain Binder. This is a special display will be in the CVS parking area. It is owned and was restored by Sam Hilliard from Bowersville. It originally sold in 1935 by Vickery Hardware in Hartwell.
